Preferences

Most of the system and user settings and preferences are located under the ‘Account’ dropdown option in the top right hand corner of the EMP, next to your user photo. Depending on what permission and feature levels are enabled for your account, what is displayed on this option menu may vary.

The top option available underneath the Account dropdown is the Preferences option. This is where the per-user preferences are located. Notification settings, user info and user account security options are all located here.

Profile

Profile

The profile section of user preferences allow a user to set biographical information and upload a profile picture. All of the information set in the user profile section is public and will show on student facing elements of the system, like emails, print and web campaign pages. Photos uploaded should be 200x200 pixel images, otherwise they may display stretched or distorted. Also note that photos uploaded through this action will not show up in print campaigns. If you wish to have a new photo in print campaigns, contact your Spectrum account representative.

Notification Settings

Underneath the Profile section in user preferences are the notification settings. From here it is possible to change what notifications you receive and in what form they are delivered. At the top of the page it will list each EMP account that you will receive notifications for. For each of the different types of notifications, which are under the ‘What’ column, there are 3 different options available. The first option, under the ‘Who’ column, determines if you want to receive notifications for items only relating to yourself or items that are related to anyone. Once the ‘Who’ is chosen, at least one delivery method must be checked off for a user to receive a notification. The box on the left enables system notifications to show up in the notification center located in the top left corner of any EMP page. The checkbox on the right side enables email notifications to your email that are used for logging into the EMP.

If you have enabled system notifications for any of the triggered actions, they will be displayed in the notification center. To access this panel, simply click the box located in the top left hand corner of any EMP page. When a notification is pushed to here, the box will turn red and a number will be located on the inside. This number indicates the number of unread notifications. From here, any line is clickable to bring up the information related to the notification. Deduplication notification items, for example, will bring you to the dedup manager when clicked. The notification center will only show the six most recent notifications. To view all previous notifications, click on the ‘View All’ blue link.

Changing your Password

There are two ways a user can change their password. If you cannot remember your password to login, click on the ‘Forgot Password?’ button on the login page. After entering your email, you will receive a link via email to reset your password. If you are logged into EMP, you can reset your password underneath the Change Password section of the Preferences section.

To provide additional login security, it is possible to enable an additional verification step before logging in. When you log in, you will be prompted to enter a numeric code that will be generated and sent to your phone via SMS. This feature can be configured from the Preferences section.
